Our classroom is centered around community. We begin each day by meeting on the carpet for community time.

On the first day of school, I explained to the children that the people in our classroom are our family and we will all treat each other as such. Every child has the right to feel respected and to feel safe. My goal is to get the children to take risks, and in order to do that they need to feel safe and comfortable with their environment.

· Ask your child about his/her classroom job.

I want the children to feel a sense of ownership and pride in the classroom. One way I accomplish this is by giving each child a job. Their job also helps them to learn responsibility.

· Ask your child about our three R’s.
